I AM STANDING for a seat in the Deputy election in number 3/4 district in St. Helier, where I now live. 

Yes, I know that this will cause real concern to the Very Important Ruling Party in the States, led by Senator Ozouf, but I will be standing in the October elections.  When I was forced to resign during my previous term as a Senator through ill-health, Senator Ozouf said that the two years that I was there were the worst two years of his political life.   I really enjoyed that.

If I get elected this time, things will be even worse for him for I have made a commitment that I will do everything in my power to make sure that he does not become Jersey’s Chief Minister.   I see him as a positive danger to Jersey’s future.    .

Can we change the follies and mistakes of the last six years.  I believe we can - and that will mean getting rid of anyone who has been on the Council of Ministers or has supported them.  We need people with political courage who have the talent and ability to look behind  the “spin” put out by press officers of the  Council of Ministers

I know that I can lead a revolt with a group of like-minded politicians if they are elected which I believe they will.

WHAT I WILL TRY AND DO FOR YOU IF YOU ELECT ME

TO BE ONE OF YOUR DEPUTIES IN NO 3/4 DISTRICT

• Support any effective legislation which will control immigration, which is one of our greatest problems

• Put forward a proposition to take GST off food, which I consider to be an immoral tax

• Restore free nursery hours to their previous level

• Provide greater  financial support for organisations such as age concern and the Citizens Advice Bureau so that they can expand their good works

•  Propose greater transparency and accountability on how your money is spent

•  Propose a fairer tax system so that wealthy wage earners pay a higher rate of tax than islanders on lower and middle incomes

•  End the practice of paying outrageously high salaries to imported public servants and ensure that local people are not overlooked when top jobs are being allocated

•  Support any scheme that guarantees to lower the high cost of housing to affordable levels (£250,000)

•  Restore free school milk to our nursery and primary school children

• Allocate sufficient funds to develop Fort Regent as a leisure centre with lifts from Snow Hill.
